Michael Bayer
MR. MICHAEL BAYER is an accomplished industrial electrical engineer with more than 40 years of experience in all aspects of engineering, from concept & facility/power system layout to start-up and commissioning. Additionally, he has broad experience in instrumentation, controls, electrical maintenance, and safety. Michael served in various roles for 30 years at Dow Chemical’s Freeport mega-chemical facility with over 80 world-scale operating plants. There he was the global subject matter expert on wire and cable selection, specification, and installation for fiber optic cables, instrumentation and control cables, and power cables up to 245 kV and represented Dow at industry conferences. Subsequently, Michael has worked for SNC-Lavalin, KBR, and STV (current) as an I&E manager and lead project electrical engineer on myriad green and brown field projects (ethanol plant, Big Foot tension-leg offshore platform, mid-stream pumping stations and tank farms, US military installations, bio-diesel plant, etc.). Michael is a Sr. Life Member of IEEE and has coauthored over 20 IEEE standards and continues to be active in IEEE standards development. He is considered an industry recognized expert in wire and cable. He received his bachelor’s degree from the Missouri University of Science & Technology in 1978 and is a licensed professional engineer in Texas.
